1. What is FIFA World Cup?

The word FIFA is the abbreviation of a French word " Fédération Internationale de Football Association " (Means = International Federation of Association Football) . It is one of the world's largest event happens after every 4 years except 1942 and 1946 (not held due to second world war) in which 32 teams from all over the world take part . It is an international competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The current champion is Germany, which won its fourth title at the 2014 tournament in Brazil.

The current format of FIFA world cup is that it comprise of 32 teams in which 31 teams have to pass through qualifying round while one team which is a guest team (Russia in this case) is qualified to the tournament. These qualified teams then play matches in the host team country for about a period of one month in which they play matches in different cities.

The 20 world cup tournaments have been won by eight national teams , Brazil have won 5 times and is the only team played in every world cup . The other world cup winners are Germany , Italy each having 4 titles Argentina and Uruguay with two titles each and England , France and Spain with One title each .
